Poker Player Profile: Evelyn Ng

Evelyn Ng, who was born in Toronto, Canada on September 14, 1975, prefers to be called Evy or Evybabee. The twenty-eight year old poker star is tall at 5’11” and has the stunningly exotic appearance of a super model. She calls herself a “girly girl” and enjoys being photographed as you can see from the many pictures of her on her website www.evybabee.com on her online gallery.

Evy began playing pool at age 14 and then graduated to card playing when she was 17 back home in Toronto. At that time, she met Daniel Negreanu who became her friend and mentor and began coaching her in the strategies of poker.

She took to card playing with great enthusiasm and began by dealing blackjack and graduated shortly thereafter to dealing poker. Evy then decided she would rather be a poker player than a dealer.

• Sept. 2003 – WPT Ladies’ Night – 2nd place – Amount of winnings not available

Evy achieved poker stardom after finishing second in the Ladies’ Night Event of the World Poker Tour where she beat out poker greats Jennifer Harman, Kathy Liebert and Annie Duke. Her estimated earnings thus far are $111,381.00.

Her nickname is “Queen of the World Poker Tournament”. She plays five days a week for six hours a day – plays mostly cash games with some tournaments. Evy’s goals: *To be the first woman to win a World Series of Poker Main Event, and *To be the first woman to take a World Poker Tournament Open Field Title.

“Bluff” magazine designates her a Power Ranking number of 303 and her Ranking Points are 114.65.

On the ESPN TV Program about poker celebrities, “The Nuts” featured the ambidextrous chip trick pro Evy doing one of her poker chip tricks. “The Butterfly”, which is fairly complicated, is known as her signature trick. Another one of her poker chip tricks is the Domino Chip Sweep.
