Poker Tournament – Using The Right Sit N Go Strategy

Poker tournaments are everywhere today online, which means there will be many terrible player’s playing in them. With terrible player’s playing in poker tournaments, you must use the right strategy to win these tournaments constantly. Now there are many forms of poker tournaments such as multi-table tournaments and sit and go’s, in this article when we talk about poker tournaments we will be referring to sit n go’s because they are one of the best ways to make a stable income online if played right.

The first step you must do when playing poker sit n go’s is to develop a strategy in order to constantly win sit and go’s. Your strategy will be used every time, but may very slightly depending on some adjustments you may have to make during the game. The first thing you should do is be ready to take notes on your opponents. Almost all online poker sites such as Fulltilt Poker and Poker Stars offers the ability to take notes on your opponents. 95% or more of poker players will not EVER use this free feature. Trust me; soon as you take notes on your opponent you will see an increase in your profits. Also, by taking notes you will run into the same people over and over again especially if you stick to one online poker site that works best for you. I guarantee that if you take notes on every game and every opponent that you see, you will run into them again in a future game. You will have the upper hand on them. When they try to pull a bogus move on you, you can laugh in their face and take down the pot when you know they were bluffing for example.

The 2nd step you must develop is patience and playing tight at the beginning of the sit n go. Many ebook poker books will tell you to do this also, and I completely agree with them. The first 20 hands of a poker sit and go are usually folded, baring an AA, KK, AK, QQ. At this stage of the poker tournament there will be many “maniac” players that will get knocked out within the first 20 minutes. Maniacs are players that will constantly go all in with minimal hands in hopes to double up quick. It’s best not to get in a confrontation with them early, and let another maniac call the all in and knock them out. Usually after the first 20 minutes, you will be able to switch your game from tight to aggressive because at this time there should be around 5-6 players left. When its down to 4 players you must switch your game to aggressive and take down as many blinds as you can. This will give you a cushion to take down first place at the end. Remember this poker tip, first place is like 3 3rd place finishes. It’s extremely important to try and finish first place as much as possible. If you follow these 2 steps, you will be on your way to success.
